INDEPENDENCE IS A TOUGH IDEAL TO LIVE BY . . .
…but here at Kerouac’s Dog Magazine, we all think it’s worth fighting for. True independence that of course would not exist, if it were not for a fabulous bunch of talented, committed, and faithful contributors and patrons like you; people who vehemently believe in everything Kerouac’s Dog is doing, and in everything we stand for. We want to say a big heartfelt thank you to you all.
Thank you for believing in us. Yes, our raison d’être; our reason for being – for creating a brave, new underground creative publication – is a continual fight. It’s a fight between creating something that’s never really been done before, and between doing good, functional design. It’s a fight between really pushing the boat out in terms of what’s possible for print, and continuing to represent our contributors in something different; in something that’s far more than just a ‘catalogue’ of work. Again, we think it’s a fight worth fighting.
Thank you for still believing in getting good, creative work out there – we’re really working hard to help you do just that too – always looking for new and exciting ways to shout loudly from the rooftops about the incredible work of our contributors.
Thank you for sticking by us. Our aim is to provide a beautiful platform for creative talent and to represent voices that may not yet have been heard. This, we believe is priceless. We’re making small but very strong steps with each Issue that goes to print. More and more people are hearing about us, just as you did, and like you, they now believe in us, which is incredibly heartwarming.
It would be very easy for us to give in to advertising, to have large brand banners on our site, and flashy ads on the back covers of each of our printed issues. But this just isn’t us; it’s not why we got into this, and it’s not where we want to be. We want to keep our independence, and continue to spread the philosophy of true independent press, and free creative expression.
